The Deep River Candu Swim Club would like to thank everyone involved with this year's amazing Santa Claus parade. What a great success,
It takes a lot of people to make this happen; organizers, community groups, businesses, clubs/groups, volunteers & Santa himself. Of course a parade wouldn't be complete without all the wonderful spectators too. So whether you supported a float, entered one, worked behind the scenes, or came out to enjoy the parade, THANK YOU AND MERRY CHRISTMAS! We are grateful that everyone could come together to make this event extra special. Small Town, Big Waves!

Parade 2019 Under the Sea

This year the Deep River Candus were thrilled to be part of the Deep River Santa Claus parade for the second year in a row. This year our special Disney Themed float was UNDER THE SEA. The Candus were awarded The Mayor's Choice award. This is a fantastic event organised by the Town.

It was wonderful to have our Candus join in the fun with their parents, Thanks to everyone that came out to represent the Candus and get in the Christmas Spirit, especially our enthusiastic little singers!!! Special thanks to our Candu Float decorators: Jen, Andrea, Lydia, Hannah, Sydney, Savannah, Melina, Caelan, Kieran, & Debra. Thanks Julie for her help during clean up!

Last year we impressed the town with the number of participants we had. Let's do it again and have some FUN!!! Be sure to R.S.V.P. on the attendance form that will go up on the pool bulletin board Monday Dec. 2nd. Help spread the word to other Candu Families and let's get everyone involved! Cahoon's Pharmasave Winter Mock Meet

This event was a spectacular way for our swimmers to show for their progress and have some fun doing it.

 Everyone did an amazing job bringing this event together. Thank you to our Sponsor, Cahoon's Pharmasave, to our Candu parent/sibling volunteers, organisers, coaches, lifeguards, everyone in the stands cheering and to our swimmers for their smiles and effort.
There were many highlights; starting with the most inspirational cheer ever led by Coach Denys, to the ribbons won by ALL and high fives all around the pool. We've got team spirit!

Our coloring contest pictures are on display at the pool. Are winners are, David, Oliver, Abbey, Amy, Maela, Kieran and Coach Mikki. Thank you to the residents at the North Renfrew Long Term Care Centre for judging our contest. Myles is the winner of the prize from Cahoon's and the winner of their door prize is Julie. The lucky winner of Lucky Ducky was Ruby and every swimmer left with a special treat from Cahoon's Pharmasave!

If your swimmer enjoyed the mock meet we hope you'll join us in Petawawa, January 18th for the Cabin Fever Swim Meet!

What's New With Candus *NEW*

This reminder went out to all the swimmers at the mock meet today, along with a special treat from Cahoon's Pharmasave. Thank you to everyone that helped to make this event a fun way to showcase our swimmer's ambition and skills. These young athletes are making incredible progress and they deserved all the treats and cheers they received. Way to go swimmers and thank you Candu families/supporters!

We know many of you forgot your coloring contests at home and we want to give you a chance to enter this contest and show your Candu spirit! Be sure to get them in by Thursday!!!

Candu Coloring Contest!

Thanks to Cahoon's Pharmasave and the Deep River Candu Swim Club we are having a coloring contest! The coloring page was handed out last week to our swimmers. If your swimmer was away and didn't get one, or has misplaced it please send me an email debramerrick@gmail.com and I would be happy to send it to you to print.

ATTENTION CANDU FAMILIES!!!

The Mock Meet will still be on the same date, but at a **NEW** earlier time : Tues. November 26th 4-6pm.with doors open at 3:45 p.m.

Due to unforeseen circumstances we have been forced to re-plan this event. We apologize for this change, especially as we know this is early for many families. Building on the success of last year, we still want to provide this exciting team building and rewarding opportunity for our swimmers.

Format:

1. Arrive at pool, purchase Lucky Ducky* chances ($2/duck, can buy up to as many as your swimmer can collect), and drop off donations to Food Bank Collection 

2. Swimmers on deck ready to swim by 4:00 (bring water and extra towel/cloths to stay warm) 

3. Coaches lead warm-up and ensure swimmers are ready for their races

 4. Races (times will be taken and posted a day or two later on the bulletin board, ribbons will be awarded by heat, right as the swimmers leave the water) 

5. Fun races and Lucky Ducky*

6. On bleachers: group photo, colouring contest prizes, door prize compliments of our sponsor 

7. Leave pool area ~6 p.m. 

8. Cupcakes on sale in foyer ($2/each). 

*Lucky Ducky is a fun little fundraiser for the club. For each $2, a swimmer will be able to catch a duck. The ducks are numbered. A random number will be drawn and the lucky swimmer holding that numbered duck will win 50% of the money raised. The remainder helps to support the club.

To help us plan the races, please indicate on the sign up sheet on the bulletin board whether or not your swimmer(s) will attend. This makes a big difference to the smooth running of the event. This is a spectator event. Come cheer on your swimmer and the team. Better yet, get involved. Volunteers are required.

Mock Meet Info

*****NEW TIME!!!***Nov. 26th 4-6pm.**** This is a FREE CLUB EVENT for ALL our swimmers! Please check this out and be sure to R.S.V.P on the sign up sheet that we hope to have posted on the bulletin board tomorrow!
Let's get together and enjoy a fun swim event as a club and encourage our swimmer's progress. They are doing amazing! Ribbons, treats, prizes....be sure to bring a non-perishable item for the food bank!

Success at the Poppy Meet!

Yesterday some of our amazing young swimmers went to compete at the Poppy Meet and they didn't disappoint. Our swimmers really gave it their all and many new Personal Bests were recorded! Way to Go Candus!
Not every swimmer has the desire to compete, but for those that do; there's a real sense of accomplishment after a meet and drive at practices to achieve new goals.
For some of our Candus this was their first competitive meet. Petawawa swim meets are always a great way to start out. Don't worry if you missed out on this swim meet because Petawawa hosts another meet, Cabin Fever, in January! Let's set some goals and get out team together :)
