Do you ever wonder what makes the Candus a great swim club? Yesterday a small team went to compete in Petawawa's Vimy Ridge Swim Meet It was a terrific event. No one cheers like the Candus! Our swimmers are well supported and encouraged and high 5's were everywhere. I realise that we are a small club and we participated with 6 competitors, but that truly can be a benefit. We had our Senior Competitor Hannah guiding and encouraging our younger swimmers. She's a terrific role model and her reward is the admiration of the younger swimmers. We had Jen on deck marshalling and cheering. We had Adrian and Catherine providing excellent coaching and advice. Walking the length of the pool to keep our swimmers focused and challenging themselves. We also had our club president on deck timing who offered up encouragement and smiles! I was also fortunate to be asked to come on deck and take pictures. I was in the right place at the right time with a camera.
This meant we had 5 adults inspiring 6 competitors on deck alone, not mentioning the crowd in the stands. It might be overkill, but our club has heart and that's why our swimmers do so well and why they also motive each other! Way to go Candus! Small Town, Big Waves!
